Description

Pizza Burgers combine juicy ground beef patties, melted plant-based cheese, and crispy smoked turkey bacon nestled in soft buns, delivering a fun and flavorful meal that blends pizza and burger favorites. This quick and customizable recipe is perfect for family dinners and busy weeknights, featuring balanced textures and classic Italian herbs for an irresistible bite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (natural)
  • 1 tsp dried basil (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (natural)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Additional Ingredients

  • 4 slices smoked turkey bacon
  • 4 slices plant-based cheese
  • 4 burger buns (soft and sturdy, gluten-free if preferred)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (natural)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Patties: Mix the ground beef with vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, onion powder, garlic powder, and apple cider vinegar. Form the mixture into even patties about the size of your buns to ensure uniform cooking.
  2. Cook the Smoked Turkey Bacon: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the smoked turkey bacon until crispy and golden. Remove and set aside to add a smoky crunch to your burgers.
  3. Cook the Patties: Using the same skillet, add olive oil and cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. During the last minute of cooking, spoon a generous amount of tomato sauce (natural) on each patty and place a slice of plant-based cheese on top to melt.
  4. Assemble the Pizza Burgers: Place the crispy smoked turkey bacon on the bottom half of each bun. Add the cheesy patties on top, and if desired, spoon a little extra tomato sauce (natural) over the cheese. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately for a fresh and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Use room temperature meat for evenly cooked patties without excessive shrinking.
  • Do not press patties while cooking to keep them juicy.
  • Toast the buns to add texture and prevent sogginess from the tomato sauce.
  • Choose plant-based cheese varieties that melt well for the best texture and flavor.
  • Let patties rest for a minute or two after cooking to redistribute juices.
