Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions: Slice onions thinly and cook in plant-based butter over low heat with a splash of apple cider vinegar (natural), stirring frequently until golden brown and soft, about 20-30 minutes. Add natural gelling agent if desired for thickening and stir in fresh herbs if using.
  2. Prepare the fruit: Thinly slice the pears and apples ensuring uniform thickness to balance crispness and softness during grilling.
  3. Assemble the sandwich: Place slices of plant-based cheese on one slice of bread. Add a generous layer of caramelized onions, then evenly layer the pear and apple slices. Add a second layer of plant-based cheese and top with the remaining bread slice.
