Easy to prepare with minimal ingredients, these bars deliver deliciousness in every bite with simple, satisfying flavors that can be customized with nuts, dried fruits, or spices.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plant-based chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (natural)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Measure out the rolled oats, plant-based chocolate chips, and all other ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal after baking.
  2. Melt the Coconut Oil and Chocolate: In a small saucepan over low heat, gently melt the coconut oil together with the plant-based chocolate chips. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and mix in the maple syrup (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and vanilla extract (natural) until well combined.
  3. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, salt, baking powder, and natural gelling agent. Stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution of all dry ingredients.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the melted chocolate and oil mixture into the dry oat mixture. Stir well until every oat is evenly coated with the fudge mixture and the batter appears uniform.
  5. Bake the Bars: Transfer the combined mixture into the prepared baking pan. Press down firmly and evenly to compact the mixture. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden while the center remains soft and chewy. Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best chewy texture; quick oats can result in a mushy bar.
  • Do not overbake; bars should be removed when the edges are firm but the center is still soft to maintain chewiness.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the pan before baking to help the bars hold their shape well.
  • Use room temperature coconut oil and other liquids for easy blending and a smooth texture.
  • Allow bars to cool completely before cutting to prevent crumbling and ensure proper setting.
