Description

Easy Honey Butter Chicken is a quick and delicious dinner featuring natural ingredients and plant-based butter. This dish balances sweet and savory flavors with juicy chicken thighs glazed in a honey and herb-infused sauce, perfect for busy weeknights or elegant gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs

Sauce and Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons plant-based butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey (natural)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy skin. Lightly season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Brown the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the plant-based butter. When melted and slightly bubbling, place the chicken thighs skin-side down. Cook until the skin is golden and crisp, about 6-8 minutes. Flip and brown the other side for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add Garlic and Flavors: Reduce heat to medium-low. Add minced garlic to the pan and sauté in the butter for about one minute until fragrant. Pour in honey (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and lemon juice, stirring to combine and coat the chicken evenly.
  4. Simmer and Glaze: Loosely cover the skillet and let the chicken simmer in the sauce for 10-12 minutes. Spoon the glaze over the chicken regularly to build up a sticky, flavorful coating. Add fresh thyme or rosemary leaves during this stage for aromatic notes.
  5. Finish and Serve: Once the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened with the help of the natural gelling agent, remove from heat. Plate the chicken and drizzle any remaining honey butter glaze from the pan over the top for extra shine and flavor.

Notes

  • Dry the chicken well to achieve crisp skin.
  • Use medium heat to avoid burning the honey and butter.
  • Turn off the heat early and let residual warmth thicken the glaze.
  • Add fresh herbs at the end for vibrant flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to suit your sweetness preference.
