Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup plant-based milk, warm
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, melted

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (natural)
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon (natural)
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (natural)
  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, softened
  • 12 tbsp plant-based milk
  • 1/2 tsp natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Dough Warm the plant-based milk until pleasantly warm but not hot. Stir in the active dry yeast and apple cider vinegar. Let it activate for about 5 minutes until bubbly. In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and salt. Slowly mix the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients along with melted plant-based butter, forming a soft dough. Knead gently on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  2. Step 2: Let the Dough Rise Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and set in a warm place. Let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  3. Step 3: Roll Out and Add Filling Roll the dough on a floured surface into a 12 by 15 inch rectangle. Evenly spread softened plant-based butter over it. Sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture on top and drizzle vegetarian Worcestershire sauce over the filling. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  4. Step 4: Shape and Second Rise Cut the log into 10-12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish or muffin tins. Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes until puffed up.
  5. Step 5: Bake to Perfection Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top.
  6. Step 6: Prepare the Frosting While baking, mix powdered sugar, softened plant-based butter, plant-based milk, and natural gelling agent until smooth and creamy.
  7. Step 7: Frost and Serve Once the buns are slightly cooled but still warm, spread or drizzle the frosting generously over each bun. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
  • Do not over-knead the dough to keep buns soft and light.
  • Roll the dough tightly but gently for clear cinnamon layers.
  • Use a timer and allow full rising time for fluffier buns.
  • Brush buns with melted plant-based butter before baking for better browning and flavor.
