Description

Bruschetta Appetizers are fresh, vibrant, and easy-to-make bites bursting with garden-fresh tomatoes, fragrant basil, and perfectly toasted crusty bread. Ideal for any occasion, these appetizers balance freshness and crunch to delight your guests with bold flavors and beautiful presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Tomato Mixture

  • 2 cups ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Bread

  • 1 crusty baguette or ciabatta loaf, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (natural) for brushing

Optional Garnishes and Variations

  • Plant-based mozzarella slices (plant-based)
  • Finely chopped jalapeños or red chili flakes
  • Diced fresh peaches or figs
  • Grilled shrimp or calamari pieces
  • Fresh mint or oregano leaves
  • Chopped pistachios (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tomato Mixture: Dice the ripe tomatoes into small, even pieces. Add freshly chopped basil and minced garlic to the tomatoes. Drizzle in extra virgin olive oil (natural) and a splash of apple cider vinegar (natural). Season the mixture with vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), salt, and pepper. Gently toss all ingredients together to combine flavors evenly.
  2. Toast the Bread: Slice the crusty baguette or ciabatta into half-inch thick pieces. Lightly brush each slice with extra virgin olive oil (natural). Toast the slices in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Bruschetta: Spoon a generous amount of the tomato mixture onto each toasted bread slice. Allow some juice to soak into the bread, but not so much as to make it soggy. Arrange the assembled bruschetta on a serving platter for presentation.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Drizzle a little more extra virgin olive oil (natural) over the assembled bruschetta. Add a few fresh basil leaves or a sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper. Optionally, sprinkle chopped pistachios for extra crunch. Serve immediately to enjoy the balance of freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • Use the freshest tomatoes possible for juicy, flavorful results.
  • Toast the bread to a perfect golden crust without burning for ideal crunch.
  • Allow the tomato mixture to rest for 10-15 minutes before assembling to enhance flavor melding.
  • Assemble bruschetta right before serving to maintain bread crispness.
  • Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil (natural) for rich flavor depth.
  • Leftover tomato mixture can be refrigerated up to two days in an airtight container.
  • Toasted bread slices can be frozen separately and re-toasted before serving with fresh topping.
  • Reheat toasted bread at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to restore crispness before topping.
