Ingredients

Scale

Proteins and Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices smoked turkey bacon
  • 1 cup plant-based cheese, shredded

Vegetables

  • 2 bell peppers, assorted colors, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings and Sauces

  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and slice the bell peppers and mushrooms into thin strips. Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Smoked Turkey Bacon: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the smoked turkey bacon and cook until crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.
  3. Sauté the Veggies: In the same skillet with reserved bacon fat and a bit of olive oil, add the onions and garlic. Cook until fragrant and translucent. Add the sliced bell peppers and mushrooms, cooking until they soften and develop a slight char.
  4. Brown the Ground Beef: Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural).
  5. Combine and Simmer: Mix the vegetables and beef together in the skillet. Splash in apple cider vinegar (natural) and allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes so flavors meld.
  6. Add Cheese and Smoked Turkey Bacon: Sprinkle plant-based cheese evenly over the skillet contents. Crumble the crispy smoked turkey bacon on top. Cover with a lid and cook until cheese melts smoothly.
  7. Serve Hot and Enjoy: Once cheese is melted and bubbly, serve immediately for the best flavor.

Notes

  • Use thin slices of peppers and mushrooms for even cooking and better texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper sautéing and caramelization.
  • Fresh vegetables greatly enhance texture and color compared to frozen.
  • Cover skillet to help plant-based cheese melt evenly without drying out.
  • Adjust seasoning gradually, tasting as you go for balanced flavors.
